Incorporated in 1890, the small beach community of Coronado offers residents and visitors a relaxing island vibe. Bordered by San Diego’s more than seventy miles of beaches, this vacation hot spot has something fun for everyone. Praised for the beautiful weather, and seemingly countless entertainment venues, visitors from around the world flock to Coronado year round. At the Coronado Historical Association Museum of History and Art, visitors can explore the rich history of Coronado—beginning with the early seventeenth century when the Spanish explorer Sebastian Vizcaino caught sight of a group of islands seventeen miles off the coast of southern California and named them Las Yslas Coronadas.


While enjoying the beaches, visitors can explore the Coronado Ferry Landing—offering a wide variety of specialty shops, galleries and restaurants. There are plenty of bike and walking paths, a fishing pier and a 20-minute ferry for trips to and from San Diego’s waterfront.
